Structure

To cover loss or damage to your buildings caused by certain events such as fire,
storm, flood, theft, escape of water, malicious damage and vandalism.

Underground Infrastructure

To cover loss or damage
caused by accidental breakage of drains,
cables and underground pipes

Burst Water Pipe

To cover damage to the building caused by  burst water pipe. Damage to batch & kitchen fixtures is usually also included.

Legal Costs & Liability

To cover sums you and your family are legally liable to pay as the owner of your
home or cover for legal costs to remove squatters if they occupy your home.

Here are some common add on’s that can be added to your buildings insurance provide a more comprehensive cover.

Contents Cover
Provides protection in the event of theft or damage to household possessions, whilst this usually relates to possessions kept at home most insurers will allow you to extend this to possessions that might not be stored at home through Personal Possessions cover (see below).
Personal Possessions Cover
Allows you to add cover for items and belongings that might not be kept in the house such as mobile phones, tablets, gadgets and handbags.
Legal Expenses Cover
In the event that your legal rights have been infringed- whether this relates to a property dispute or you are making a legal challenge with respect to a business having treated you unfairly or even issues arising from your employment rights then Legal Expenses Cover can offer financial support to help you cover the legal costs associated with pursuing a claim or taking proceedings to defend your legal rights.
Home emergency cover
Covers parts and labour in the event of an unexpected breakdown of essential services such as heating, electrics, pest infestation or plumbing and drains.

If you are purchasing a property, you will usually need to ensure that you have building cover in place at the point of exchange of contracts to provide to your mortgage lender.
